Hi, I have framed 45x70 in the sloped ceiling with 5-inch nails. The nails go about 50 mm into the rafters. It feels rock solid - or so I thought. Now that I have started paneling, I notice that some of the studs can actually be wiggled!!!

It's been a while since it was framed, and I assume that small movements in the rafters cause it to loosen a bit (when newly nailed everything is rock solid). BUT, being an amateur, I would like someone with more experience to assure me that it will hold. It would be unfortunate if the sloped ceiling starts to come loose...

When I started, I tried to tear down a stud to see if it held well. I promise it was practically impossible... so I thought it should hold for some insulation and single plasterboard... but could I have been wrong??? Will the nails work their way out, or? In hindsight, it might have been smart to use metal brackets instead ::)

Another possibility, if the battens are crossed against the rafter, you can place a fork anchor at every other attachment point to provide more stability.
