Today, we have a ceiling with large chipboard panels and were planning to install a new ceiling with 13x120mm tongue-and-groove paneling. We were considering lowering the ceiling a bit to conceal wiring and to install LED lighting, etc. So, we want to attach battens directly to the old ceiling, and for the battens, we were planning to use 23x36mm slats. What distance should I use between the battens? Is 23mm sufficient for installing LED lighting?

cc600mm on the studs, and 23x36 should work if it's enough for the LED lighting. Otherwise, 28x70 is a classic.

Always set c/c 30 in the ceiling, then you never risk it sagging.

Cc 300 is usually placed in the ceiling. If your 23mm is sufficient, you'll have to try with your specific spots.

C/C 300mm is for gypsum, but c/c 600mm is sufficient for paneling that TS will use.
