We have a food cellar that hasn't been used as such before. We just moved into our house (a month ago). In the basement, there's a food cellar that doesn't have a slab underneath, just a footing. Two of the walls are external walls, made of cinder blocks and then plastered or slurried. One short side faces the heated part of the basement, also made of cinder blocks, and on the warm side, there is insulation and wood paneling. But facing a semi-warm space in the basement (16-16 degrees), there's a wall made of wood panel, insulation, and then gypsum, with the wood side facing the food cellar.
The previous owners used the food cellar as storage, and they had framed the floor and laid boards on it. This has now been removed.
So the question is; should we replace the insulated wooden wall facing the semi-warm space with a masonry wall made of cinder blocks?
