Foam plastic under laminate flooring
Hi,
I am planning to use expanded polystyrene as insulation under an upper floor and wonder which thickness is best? Does this one work, for example? https://www.byggmax.se/isolering/cellplast/cellplast-200-xps-p61014019.
When you join the boards, do you use glue or barbs?

Avoid cellplast indoors due to fire..
I used foam plastic as insulation. 5 cm of the hardest, the blue 300xps from Byggmax and laminate over it. The one you linked to is too soft. Don't forget the underlay plastic, otherwise it will creak. https://www.byggmax.se/isolering/cellplast/cellplast-xps300-p16474
Did you glue them together or just lay the floor on top? I'm going to apply leveling compound first and 5 cm more + floor on top will make the floor way too high. It will be above the threshold.Robert63 said:
I just laid them, no glue. It turned out okay, but if I could do it over, I would have chosen to lay a slightly thicker/longer parquet instead, as it provides better support. If you're aware of it, the floor can feel a bit "soft."D Danii KD said:
