We have received quotes for installing hydronic underfloor heating in the living room and kitchen. These are in an open floor plan.
The floor is on ground level with a 20 cm air gap between the concrete slab and floor.

We are now deciding between 2 quotes, and there's a difference of 10,000 in price. We are wondering about the pros and cons of each material choice.

Company #1:
Installation of 12mm pipe and leveling compound about 18-20mm
Total price: 56,500:-

Company #2:
LK underfloor heating boards eps 16mm
LK underfloor heating pipe 12mm
Total price: 46,400:-

Those I've talked to say the advantages of using leveling compound are that it provides an even floor and that the heat spreads better across the entire surface.
However, the downside is that some heat goes downwards to the foundation instead. So we might lose some heat.

Using underfloor heating boards insulates better and makes the heat rise faster upwards and become warmer.
The downside is that it's important that the floor the boards are laid on must be even from the start, otherwise there is a risk that the laminate floor moves more than necessary. (though it sounds strange to me)

So what does the forum think about this?
What is preferable for a 33 sqm floor area? Leveling compound or underfloor heating boards?
