I'm going to lay flooring chipboard in an old house. The joists vary a lot, so it's difficult to stagger the joints on different joists. Is it OK to place all the joints (short side) on the same joist?

There will be 6 boards in width (on the same joist) here.

you can add a skarvregel.
not very good with general skarv

In what way is it bad with generalskarv?

I was taught that if you screw and glue 22mm chipboard flooring, you don't need to join on joists, but you shouldn't join two rows next to each other between the same joists.

Ok! So if I offset every other row, will it work with "flying" joints?
They won't be completely flying, I guess the maximum will be 15-20 cm to the nearest joist.

Maybe I should add that it's Byggmax floor chipboard, not sure if that makes a difference?

just a thought... is it really better to have joints in the air than all joints on the same rule? I don't understand why it's so horrible with generalskarv?

P
First, check that Byggmax floor chipboard can now be joined between the joists. Previously, it could only be joined on a joist.

I would go for generalskarv instead. But can't you fix new reglar? It's not many kronor we're talking about...

One thing about the generalskarv is that even if it is over bjälke, there is still a risk of a little "knix" there if the bjälklaget isn't perfectly 100% even.
