But I can only angle nail/screw from one side on the braces that will be against the outer wall. The outer wall is kind of in the way. Don't you usually angle nail from both sides?
Usually or not, you have to do what's practical. Two 4" on each side of the brace will be good. You can also angle screws if it's easier. Otherwise, you can use angle brackets. You can also attach the brace with a nail or screw straight through the floor beam at one end, then angle nail/screw/set angle brackets at the other end. There are many possibilities.
