I am renovating the hallway and will eventually lay floor tiles.
I need to make sure that the new floor keeps as low a height as possible.
Standard (if I understood correctly)
Chipboard on the floor joists.
Floor gypsum on the chipboard.
Tiles on the floor gypsum.
Thinking of an alternative method!?
"Support joists" between the floor joists.
Floor gypsum on the support joists, between the floor joists.
Floor gypsum on the chipboard/floor joists.
Tiles on the floor gypsum.
The advantage of this is that I save the chipboard's thickness of 2.2cm in height which can be the difference between being able to order standard size for the door instead of having to order custom size.
(No, unfortunately, I cannot install the door higher without other complications)
And yes, there will be a lot of extra hassle with this method
My question is;
Is the alternative method unsuitable/bad?
As you say, it will be a lot of work, but the solution seems sensible.
However, I would reconsider the floor gypsum. It should be glued with special adhesive to achieve sufficient stiffness in the floor for tiles (if you have cc60 on the floor joists). Wouldn't it be easier to reinforce and self-level on the chipboard?

Over this, I planned to install electric underfloor heating and self-leveling compound. The reason for lowering the boards is because I want to lay vinyl click over both the area with underfloor heating and where I don't lay underfloor heating, so that these floors are level.
Mostly I just want confirmation that this is a solution that works. But I also wonder if I should lay something under the self-leveling compound to prevent it from moving with the chipboard/joists?

I did as I planned, placed the floor chipboard between the joists, screwed drywall onto it.

I lowered the chipboard panels so they were flush with the beams. But I laid vinyl flooring. I've heard that this is a less ideal solution for tiles, as there can be some movement between beams and chipboard.
For me, it turned out great!

Yes, then the movement between chipboards and beams shouldn't affect the tiles.
