What does flatsida actually mean, is it that it is planed on one side or?

Inge who knows?

Googled and found among others this. In the section Annual rings and sawing of planks, it says that the plank has 2 flat sides, so it doesn't seem to have anything to do with planing. Wondering what the flat side is on a 2"x2

Yes, it sounds strange.

Any carpenters or similar who know? ;)

for me, the flat side is e.g., 45x95, so the 95 sides are the flat side :)
in what context do you need to know what the flat side is?

That was correct, thank you.

Once saw a detailed drawing where the designer had written

"...45x70 mounted on the flatan."

But I don't think the flatan would want to walk around with studs mounted on their body... :)

Flat side is the long side in my world. That is, the long side of the rectangle that results if you cut the piece of wood.
