Hello,

As a new homeowner who just started tearing down the ceiling, I found this. It looks like some form of straw with plaster on top of some kind of studs or similar?

How would you solve this? Put up new plasterboards on the existing sparse panel from the previous ceiling (if it is properly done and level). Or tear down everything with plaster and straw, put up a new sparse panel, and a new plaster ceiling? Or do you have any other tips on what can be done here?

Regards, a happy amateur :)

  • Damaged ceiling with exposed lath and plaster, wooden beams installed, and flaking paint in a house interior renovation context.
  • Exposed ceiling with plaster over straw-like material and wooden beams, part of a renovation discussion in a housing forum.
  • Room with exposed wooden ceiling beams, torn-down plaster and straw insulation on the floor, and a stack of boards beside a window with a radiator below.
Don't worry, put up new plaster, what you can see is a roof with reed and plastered. Consider if you need any additional ELECTRICITY now that the ceiling is open, It looks like you can get under the laths quite well.
