Fire-rated surface between Garage and Guest Room
Hello
I hope someone knowledgeable about fire ratings can answer my questions.
Is it true that a fire rating is required between the garage and guest room? See attached drawing.
I am currently building at the moment. The nearest house is about 10 meters away.
Initially, there was not intended to be any interior ceiling in the garage section, and then the KA suggested covering the roof truss with double plasterboard. Now it will probably be wood paneling instead, does the plasterboard requirement go away then?

Garage is considered an increased risk for fire, so garages and residential spaces should be different fire compartments. The responsible chimney sweep should be able to explain the applicable regulations.

I would say you need to have fire-rated. Certainly at least EI30. The roof truss is another requirement but related to load-bearing capacity. If they are made of wood, you usually don't need to fuss.nutchuk said:

Initially, there was no plan to have a ceiling in the garage part, and then the site manager suggested encasing the roof truss in double gypsum. Now it will likely be wood paneling instead, does the gypsum requirement then disappear?
