I am choosing between installing 3 drywall panels or 2 fire-rated drywall panels on the wall facing my neighbor (on a studded 90-wall with mineral wool. Is there any difference between the drywall options in terms of sound insulation?
The acoustic profile seems to be 25 mm, which would make that option 13*2+25=51 mm. It is thicker than the other options at 30 mm and 39 mm, and since I don't really think I need additional soundproofing, I don't think I'm prepared to sacrifice 10-20 mm for it (may sound minor, but I live in a cramped space

Just generally and I don't have any noise issues today. But, since I removed what was there before (needed to fix some things in the wall) a plywood and a drywall plus an extra stud - I thought I would maximize the soundproofing that I can do anyway. I don't need to increase thermal insulation and won't be hanging a TV on the wall. The wall is partly between my hallway and his bathroom and partly between our two sleeping lofts... But, as I said, I haven't really had any problems historically.
The rule that the plywood and drywall were attached to was likely not in contact with the wall, which gives the best result if you want a good outcome. That is, to add another wall against the neighbor's with an air gap in between so there is no contact.
