Yes, what is the best way to find where the ceiling joists are located?
And as far as I know, they should be spaced 40 cm apart, but a guy I talked to said that the joists in these houses are really thin and are spaced about 5 cm apart. Is that an existing solution or was he just talking &#(/%¤?

Is 400 expensive?
Otherwise, you can knock on the ceiling and move your hand... You will notice a slight difference in sound where the joist is located. It usually suffices to find one. The others are usually spaced 600 or 400 mm apart.

It depends on what kind of house it is. When I was going to change the roof, I had to measure from the inside because there were different distances between each rafter. Liiiiite annoying. :xkamilenski said:

Test with a small strong magnet. When it sticks to the screw, the rule should be there.
A tip is to buy a screwfinder, strong magnet.

Distributed by Grabber (if I remember correctly). I have seen them in several hardware stores.

I myself have an even cheaper gadget that I'm satisfied with. I don't think you can count on 100% reliability. But it provides some information. Exactly how THAT one works, I don't know. If it had been completely useless, they wouldn't sell these.pfb said:
I bought another model for about 330, and it works at least. The electrical finder function is unreliable, but it detects studs.kamilenski said:
