Hello

I am going to tile over a countertop and the wall behind it will be new. I plan to fill the joints in the drywall as usual so the surface becomes smooth, but perhaps with joint compound? I have read that you shouldn't use regular filler when tiling because it adheres less well. Is that true?

What should I do with the rest of the smooth surface on the drywall? Can it be as is and apply tile adhesive directly on it, or do I need to prime or have a thin layer of filler or something to prevent the drywall from absorbing the moisture from the adhesive too quickly or something? :)

Spackle with fix. I usually apply a thin layer of primer so the paper doesn't absorb so quickly.
