I'm about to install a new, wider garage door and just had a step removed from the garage floor (where a trash bin used to stand). Does anyone have tips on how I can even out this surface? It's sloping outward since it's a garage.
Should I apply a layer of new coarse concrete and sand it by hand? Will it stick? I don't want it to crack or anything similar right away, so all tips are welcome

I used this to tidy up after removing a ledge. Turned out great. Coarse concrete will be too thin to work well.
