Hello,
I'm about to start building a fence and I could use some advice on the dimensions of the nailing strip and a neat attachment for the slats. The posts are anchored in post spikes which are standing in clay.

Proposed dimensions are:
Post 70x70mm cc1000mm
Nailing strip 45x28mm
Slats 45x25mm

Is the nailing strip too weak? I mainly want it because I think it looks better aesthetically if it doesn't have the same dimensions as the posts.

Does anyone have experience with the neatest and most concealed attachment possible? I've considered hidden deck screws but since the slat and nailing strip together only measure 52mm, I'm unsure if I can screw it in at an angle (45 degrees) without the screw coming out the backside.

Posts and nailing strips will be bought untreated and will be painted, slats will be bought pre-primed and only need final painting.

I have prepared a to-scale, but not very attractive, drawing that I am attaching.

Grateful for any input I can get.

Do you really need that many posts?
I am planning about 2m sections, however, I have a concrete wall where the posts will be attached and thicker dimensions on the fence slats (50x75).
But ready-made fence sections are usually about 1.8 m wide, right?

Had the same thought initially, but with 95x95. However, my neighbors who have horizontal slats on their fences use 70x70 posts with cc 1000, so I have chosen the same.

One option I have been considering is:
Posts 95x95 cc1500
Nail rail 50x75
Slats 45x25

This might look more aesthetically pleasing, and I also get a thicker nail rail to drive the screw into.

I can mention that I will also have a gate, and I don't want it to be too wide.
