Hello! I need to build a fence around my summer cottage plot and would appreciate some feedback.

Brief background: I have a summer cottage in an area increasingly plagued by wild boars. We have visits several times a week, the plot is starting to look like a war zone, and none of the home remedies help. More and more residents in the area are getting electric fences with either white plastic poles or round wooden poles, but I've hesitated because I mostly see disadvantages, such as maintenance.

Conditions: The plot is about 60 x 60 meters and is located on a hillside, the terrain is hilly, and there is a fourteen-meter height difference between the highest and lowest points. There are open areas but also a few hundred trees. The ground is rocky, and there is bedrock at or near the surface in several places. (I understand the difference between plot and property; in this case, they are the same, so we can skip that discussion.)

The situation has become unsustainable, and I've started calculating the conditions to build a proper fence with pressure-treated wood, which requires minimal maintenance but still keeps the boars out.

I'm thinking about posts with two-meter intervals, with three overlapping stringers. The top edge of the top stringer would be about 90 cm above ground, and the bottom edge of the bottom one about 15 cm above ground. The posts would protrude 10 cm above the stringers in case I need to add something like a top electric wire in the future. I believe I need to add a diagonal brace backwards on roughly every tenth post for some stability.

I estimate that I need about 140 posts to manage around gates, parking spots, etc. My modest hope is that I can use ground anchors of various kinds for at least half of them. For the others, I'll have to dig and pour footings.

What do you think, construction-wise, about posts in 70x70 and stringers in 45x70, with corner and gate posts in 95x95? I understand that larger dimensions give a more "sturdy" impression and that appeals to many, but I'm aiming to keep it as "airy" as possible. Ideally, I wouldn't want a fence at all... 🙃

Spontaneously, it feels like a motivated pig could get through, between, or under such a solution. Electric fences are supposed to be the most effective.

Are the neighbors satisfied with their electric fences? If so, I would have chosen that solution too.

I'm also considering an electric fence, but there are some challenges with it. As mentioned, it's a wooded plot and often branches and larger limbs fall when it's windy. There's a risk that the fence could be completely non-functional until I'm there next time to remove what short-circuits it.

But I'm not ruling out the electric fence either, it's much faster to build and I already have upcoming projects that are enough for a five-year plan.
