Hello!
We are building a new gate and poured two foundations with post shoes in them. When we placed the post, which is 95*95 and about 120 cm high, it wobbled a bit and even more when the gate was attached. It looked like the shoe was wobbling because the wood was well screwed in and the foundation was firm. I read here that you should not use a post shoe but rather a post anchor, so we have now dug up the foundations and will pour new ones and set down two sturdy post anchors in each foundation.
Now I have a few questions to avoid having to dig these up as well.
Are two anchors enough, or should I set down 3?
I wonder in which direction they should be placed if I have two, towards the gate/hedge or inside/outside the garden?
And should I cast the anchors at the same level so that I can fasten the post with a through-bolt or with a slight offset and use screws?
Thanks in advance!
