I have bought an older house with a wooden frame and brick facade that will now be expanded. It's a 1.5-story house with a basement/daylight basement and a pitched roof. We plan to extend/build on the house by extending the gable by about 5m. The extension will then be approximately 35sqm (5*7m). The facade of the entire house will be plastered when everything is done.
We will outsource the foundation, frame, windows, and roof and plastering, and then do the interior ourselves.
- The daylight basement will be built with masonry, but then what?
Either the rest in wood or continue with masonry like iso-leca (370mm) and lightweight concrete flooring?
- How is the price comparison for wood walls and wood flooring compared to the stone alternative? What is the cheapest, and how much is the difference roughly? With wood, I can do a little more myself too, like insulating and drywalling the interior, etc. On the other hand, it's enough to plaster the interior, and it's done instead of insulating, using a vapor barrier, drywalling, and spackling.
I should probably get quotes for both options, but feel free to write what you would choose/do and why?
