Is there anyone here who has extended their house and can share some experiences?
We are planning a 30 sqm extension. 5*6 meters, cathedral ceiling with 4.5 meters interior height. Metal roof and brick crawl space foundation. We plan to hire a company to do the foundation, erect the frame, and make the house weatherproof with roof, windows, and painted paneling, and then open up to the existing house. Then my husband will continue inward. Anyone who can estimate how long this might take two carpenters would make me very happy for any suggestions...

We expanded our house with 2 extensions. We extended the house by 4.5 meters (slab 30m2, 2 floors + basement) and a forward extension of 12 m2, 2 floors.
We received a quote for:
- Frame
- Exterior cladding with panel
- Interior cladding with plasterboard
- Tile on the roof
price: 400 tKr
Building the new part went quickly. What took time was renovating the old part. We demolished 3 load-bearing walls, so there was quite a bit of work with reinforcements and laminated beams. We started in the spring of '07.
