I will build a conservatory and since it will be located on the north side, I want to shift the entire structure almost a meter so that I can add an extra window facing south.
The glulam frame (from SBV) is originally designed to be mounted against the facade. I received a suggestion to screw an additional rafter right next to the first rafter, which is also screwed into the wall of the house. I will have an extra post to which the window will be mounted. Over this, I am considering placing a regular beam 45x220 that I can extend a bit onto the facade and securely screw into both the house facade and the outer glulam beam.
Assuming it's the same dimension of the frame at the front as at the back.
And at the front, there is only support in the middle. The one you put on the wall has support (if you nail tightly to the wall) all the way until you're outside the wall. 1 meter is no problem.
What is the total width? You can have at least 25% of the width outside the house.
The dimensions are the same. The difference is that at the back there is no beam, but I assume that the two innermost roof trusses (which are attached to the facade) act as beams.
The total width is 4190 cm-
Sounds reassuring that it will work (provided you are right )
The construction went well and it feels like it will hold. I'm otherwise very pleased with the room. It's not finished all around yet but there is a spring next year too.
