I have expired leveling compound. I've used it this week and it dries slowly but once it's dried it's hard. I've read that when they expire, a substance that makes them harden disappears.

My thought is therefore to mix an old one with a new one to get some more of the hardening substance in the total mass. Then I don't know if it hardened slowly because I had the wrong amount of water or mixed poorly, etc. It was only in spots it didn't harden.

Has anyone tried this?

How much is it? If it’s just a few bags, I wouldn’t take a chance if it's for the bathroom or something else more important.

If it's larger amounts, I would use it for something unimportant or run some tests with 10-50% new.

It's 20 bags, so it feels boring to need to buy 20 new ones. I was rather thinking of buying 10 new ones and mixing it with.

The filler is rock hard today, and if it's only the drying time that's the problem, it's worth it to avoid paying another 5000 for new filler.

Go for it!

Are you going to lay a carpet? Because when I used a filler that had been opened for too long, the moisture didn't evaporate as quickly as it usually does.
