So he's going to cast an entirely new staircase and then apply epoxy on it? It must be better to lay tiles than epoxy if you don't like concrete. A newly cast concrete staircase should last at least 50 years if done correctly with concrete from a pump truck. I don't have much experience with epoxy, especially not outdoors. And I've actually never seen it either.
I wouldn't buy it, but that's just me.

Well, he needs to improve some areas and pour new on the middle section. But my experience is that if you lay tiles, sooner or later there will be frost damage in the joints, and then the steps will look like they do today again. I understand your thoughts, but I think it will be fine, I'll get back to you in 10-20 years. ;)

I have also tired of re-gluing the slate tiles on the stairs for the 5th year. I'm thinking of investing in epoxy - gravel/sand. Initially considered Duratrapp, but it is very expensive and seems to just use epoxy putty and gravel.
An alternative could be PaintPro putty NM205 combined with their "Color Sand". Has anyone tried it?
