Electrical boxes / switches and 2 layers of drywall
Hello.. a question.. what do you do with the existing lamp sockets / boxes / switches when adding one or two extra layers of drywall? Do these need to be moved out to the last layer of drywall?
Is an electrician needed?
I am going to soundproof an existing interior wall from a 70s house.
From the inside out it will be: framed wall - particle board (with existing box / switch) and then 2 layers of drywall.
Thanks!

There are extension rings available. I don't think an electrician is required since you would also be replacing the outlet yourself. However, you must detach the wire and be confident that you can secure them properly again.P preben89 said:Hi.. a question.. what do you do with existing lamp outlets / junction boxes / switches when you add one or two extra layers of drywall?
