We want to fix our living room walls, the craftsman said that the best option would be to put up drywall on the walls and fill in with putty to then paint or wallpaper. Have I understood it correctly that only the seams need to be filled with putty and then you can paint or wallpaper directly on the drywall? I received quite a hefty price for a job I could do myself if you're not supposed to putty over the entire drywall panels.
My wife perceived that the craftsman meant that the WHOLE wall should be plastered, and that sounds completely crazy if you put up a drywall with a smooth surface.
And painting directly on the drywall shouldn't be a problem, right?
