Hello! I want to "eliminate" the movements that occur in my chipboards, wallpapers crack even with fiberglass tape.
Can I glue + screw plasterboard on top of the chipboards to make it stable?
I am considering 6 mm renovation plasterboard on top of the existing chipboards.

Of course you can, even recommend it!

If you have a lot of movement, you can also consider how the wall is constructed (stud dimensions, c/c measurement, height, etc.) and if the house is relatively new?

Should the plasterboard be installed so that the sheet covers the chipboard joint? Maybe vaguely expressed but I mean so that the plasterboard joint does not end up where the chipboard joint is :o
I am going to do something similar but with masonite underneath

Yes, the joints should definitely be staggered.

Follow-up question in this old thread:

Do the joints on the overlying drywall need to land on a stud, or can they be joined wherever it fits?

We currently have particle board walls but want to put drywall on top to get rid of all the cracks that have appeared at the board joints despite tape and such. :)

Place it as it fits, I do it and it works great. I always start with half a tile in the corner, then go around the room.
