I am going to put up some shelves on a drywall. Managed to mount a drywall anchor but the other one drilled a hole straight through...

A drywall showing a mounted anchor at the top and a larger, problematic hole below, with a guideline above both.

Is it possible to save it in some way to be able to put a screw in the lower hole?

A larger tray on the next expander maybe:)

And next time assemble with mollytång.

As far as I know there is only one size of washer..?
Also, I can't have bigger than M4 on the screw (which I have drilled for now)

And next time, install with a Molly tool.
I used a tool, but I pressed like crazy at this particular spot and nothing happened. So I thought I might as well screw then :D ... but no.

I mean that you use a loose larger washer than the hole on the molly you are installing!

The diameter of the current hole is about 12mm and the expander for my screw is 7mm. Can I put an expander even though it is considerably smaller than the hole?

You get a washer with a 7-8 mm hole and an outer diameter well over 12 mm. Sometimes called a fender washer.
Bend the legs out a bit so the Molly can expand as it should.

Do you know where the studs are?
If you use all your strength without it expanding, it's not an uncommon sign that it's attached to a stud.
