Hello,
We have a wooden basement ceiling with insulation on top. What happens if you use longer screws here?
Currently, I have inserted screws that protrude about 5-9 cm into the insulation, is that a problem? Should I replace the screws?
In this case, they are sporadically placed; curtain rails, lights, and now an absorption panel.
Is there any benefit in replacing a screw that protrudes 9 cm with one that protrudes 7 cm?

Do you have screws that are 9 cm too long?
The only issue is that it unnecessarily drains the wallet, screws of that length usually cost several kronor each, it doesn't matter if it sticks into the insulation.

The screw is a total of 160 mm, but 70 mm is without threading because the plates are 70 mm thick. This means that the screw goes about 9 cm into the ceiling. The boards attached to the ceiling are not that thick, maybe only a cm or so, but they hold well.
Yes, 16 screws with washers cost about 100 SEK, so it wasn't much, but it would have cost 200-300 SEK to get custom brackets plus screws.
My concern was that the insulation would spin around the screw when driving it up and thereby distort/compress the "plates/pillows." But it sounds like it's fine, no need to even think about cutting the screw then.
I went to pick up screws that were 2 cm shorter, but it turned out that it was read incorrectly.
