Worrying and worrying is up to each individual, right? If you don't want the tiles laid with just adhesive against the sheet metal, you can make a groove in the render and then seal the sheet metal in it! Many do this, but it's definitely not something I would have done!

So you don't think it sounds crazy to lay tiles on the sheet metal, with just adhesive/moisture barrier in between? That sounds good.

That's how you do it! BUT you need to attach the plate to the slab with something like nail plugs at 300mm centers!
