Hello everyone!
I'm about to start lowering my ceiling in my apartment to install downlights, but both the ceiling and walls in this apartment are made of very hard concrete, so when I drill, I only get a few millimeters in before it almost completely stops. So I wanted to see if anyone can recommend a hammer drill or something similar that works well for drilling in hard concrete; it would make things much easier. It would also be great if it's reasonably priced, if such a thing exists. Thanks in advance.

Henke,

Go and rent a real slaghammare and you'll see that it works better than with a hammer drill.

I usually use a hammer drill (borrhammare). It can handle even the strongest concrete and even granite, so I can highly recommend it.

I think we mean a real Rotary Hammer here!

Even one of these, however, cannot handle any rebar ;)

OKi, maybe they're called rotary hammers. ;)
And if you're unlucky, it's reinforced for shelters, and then it's dense with iron.

Or buy a cheap Borrhammare) at Biltema, Jula or CO.

Costs about the same as a day's rent of a "professional machine". And should work for what you need to do.

Enough that they are cheap, but they don't cost under 100:- ;D and I rented a Hilti for a whole weekend last summer. I promise the Hilti bites better and with the right drill bits (i.e., very expensive), most rebar gives way quite quickly. However, one should not drill on/through the rebar as it can weaken the structure.
