Is there any good technique to drill exactly perpendicular, for example in a wall or other surface??
The only thing I can think of is a drill stand, but such a thing feels extremely clumsy on anything other than horizontal or almost horizontal surfaces.

I've seen something that you attach to the drill (where the handle usually is) that makes the drill perpendicular. A type of base that slides upwards when the drill goes downwards - there's no way I can remember where I saw this.
Wolfcraft has a gadget that attaches to the drill. It can be adjusted to different angles. Costs a few hundred and can be found at Bauhaus among others. I haven't tried it...also don't know if it fits all machines...
Maybe this one:

I've never tested it myself but saw it when I was flipping through the catalog the other day.

I have one, it's so-so... It’s possible to angle the machine quite a lot despite the guide that should keep it perpendicular. Additionally, it's quite tricky to get the hole in the right spot when using it.
