Hi,
I want to order building kits for a double garage and don't know if I should order from Lundqvist Trävaru AB or Sorselestugan (20% discounted price).
I'm not very handy myself, but I can assemble if I get good instructions and as complete kits as possible.
I'm thinking of a double garage kit with dimensions 7.5x8.5 and roof trusses for the roof + two sliding doors with motor to be bought separately.

Wondering who delivers better building kits and is more economical overall.

Open to all kinds of tips and tricks :-)

Thanks

DN

Also check Mellby Garage and Lövångers Bygg. 7.5x8.5 I don't think is an optimal measurement. It becomes unnecessarily deep and a more expensive roof construction. Instead, aim for 6x10 or thereabouts if the plot allows. The wall elements are usually 1200 mm wide. Precision, plenty of time, and a good level are usually the most important prerequisites.

Hi and thank you for your response!

I'm wondering what roof pitch you think is good?
I'm between 22 and 27 degrees of pitch, and some say 22° is short and doesn't match the house, while 27° looks bigger and matches the house better.

Thanks!

From a technical perspective, a steeper slope is always better, regardless of the roofing material. If you want to match the other houses on the property, you should choose as similar a slope as possible. If 22 and 27 are your options, I would choose 27 degrees. Where is the house located?

Slope should be somewhat according to snow class, I think, higher slope further north feels right to me.

I've chosen 25 degrees, and it works well. The roof of the wood shed ended up being 14 (previous owner), and leaves and similar always accumulate on the roof... I think I would have avoided that if it were a higher angle.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with your suppliers, I usually look at the construction and layout from different suppliers and then put together something myself with loose timber, with some modifications according to my preferences.

If you are in Västerbotten or Norrbotten, check out Granträsk Marksågen, they also do prefab but with slightly larger wall blocks.

The address is Skänninge, Mjölby,

Suggestions for wall height, 2.4 m, 2.5 ....

Also, stud thickness 45x145 or 45x195?

Snow zone 2. Snow load is reduced (in calculations) from 30 degrees. At 60 degrees and above, snow load is not considered. Suitable wall height must be judged based on the garage's use. From a construction standpoint, 45x145 is more than sufficient. Thicker studs may be required if the garage is to be more than sporadically heated.

I know several who are super satisfied with Lövångers. When it comes to size, I would probably go with something like 7.2 x 10.8 so you can fit a workbench and a storage area at the back. In reality, it's probably the plot that determines the design..
Good luck!
