Have made some simpler storage doors and gates over the years. Almost all of them have warped. I have often let the wood sit for a long time before, sometimes for years, in tension - yet they still warp. Most often the upper right and lower left corners bulge towards me. Does anyone have any hot tips on how to avoid this?

Try edge-gluing the timber and see if it helps.

(i.e. split the wood lengthwise and rotate one piece 180 and glue the pieces together. Then the piece that originally wants to twist in one direction now wants to twist in two different ways and the forces that cause the gate to warp counteract each other.)
