Hi, I'm redoing the bathroom and reframing the floor, and I'm wondering if I buy timber and install the studs, will they "shrink" after a while. Perhaps some shrink more, and I'll get an uneven floor, or are they already so dry that they won't decrease in size? Additionally, it’s a log house, and I will place the studs on a log; if they shrink, maybe they will start "hanging in the air," or is there no risk for my concerns? Grateful for advice.
If a panel board that is 12+95. it should dry for at least 12 days. As many days as it is thick. That's a good rule. A plank or board hardly shrinks at all in length. You don't need to wait for a rule that's going to be in the wall to dry. As long as it is built dry, about 14-18% moisture.
It should probably be fine. If you have timber of the same quality, then maybe it will be 141mm in all studs, but it won't be uneven. If all studs are 141, it doesn't matter much. Good luck
