Our house, built in 1974, is a single-story with a basement and a "loft" of the truss type. The loft is an "unheated attic" where insulation has been placed. Today, when I was putting up Christmas lights, I passed by the vent on the gable and a breeze from there triggered a severe coughing fit. Dry, slightly chemical smell, not good. I've previously considered replacing the insulation in the loft. Has anyone done that (136 m2)? and how big a job is it? I mean tearing everything out and checking the vapor barrier at the same time. Maybe build "edges" and have loose-fill insulation blown in? Any tips?
