I seem to notice that many just put up ceiling gypsum and smear on paper tape/fiberglass and are satisfied with that, but how many of you have encountered cracking due to the absence of noggings? Is it worth the effort to put up 60 noggings under the short side joints?

I ignored it, but the glesen is on c/c 30. I spoke with Norgips and they also thought it was unnecessary, but sure, it would become more stable.

Personally, I would add kortlingar if I had larger cc spacing.

Good luck!

Did I misunderstand something? I thought you didn't putty ceiling plasterboard in the joints?

I also had cc30 on sparse panel and didn't make any noggings for the plasterboard. Worked fine for 20 years.

I think we are talking about regular gipsskivor....

Gypsum planks are not spackled at the joints

I prefer completely smooth ceilings and the ceiling gypsum has beveled edges.

Then, as I thought, it may be unnecessary work to use noggings between the joints on CC30/slatted panels. If Norgips thinks it's unnecessary, I'll follow that advice. :) Thank you for your input!

Going to put up drywall on the ceiling today in my old LB house where the beams are 40cm apart.

I will cut small strips of OSB that I will insert into the joint after installing the first sheet and then screw so that both drywall sheets are attached to it.

I don't feel like furring the ceiling and am trying this method instead :)

Best regards

There is a special 10cm wide metal strip to place between the gypsum and sparse at the short joints. You screw directly through this with a regular drywall screw.
