Do you have to spackle drywall joints?
I have just had a garage set up with OSB and drywall on the interior walls and ceiling.
Is there any specific reason (apart from appearance) to spackle the drywall joints?
For my own part, it doesn't matter. I was just planning to paint everything with a semi-gloss light gray color.
The garage will be used as a workshop for car repairs.

For that matter, spackel neither adds nor detracts. A "firewall" with double gypsum is built with staggered panel joints.
In the walls, there is gypsum/osb/plastic and in the ceiling, there is gypsum/slat panel/plastic in that order, so it's probably not a problem for moisture then.
Then there's a wooden frame with insulation, and fiber cement boards on the exterior walls, tongue and groove boards, and roofing felt on the roof.
I might fill in the screw holes where they are visible, because it's not that hard

Remember to add a "strip" in the putty if you're puttying the joints, otherwise it cracks more easily.
Made the mistake without a strip at the old place=cracked
In the new garage, I used a strip and it's held up, it also sinks more without a strip
