We are in the process of building an additional upper floor and therefore need to add masonry to the existing chimney. The existing chimney did not meet the requirements for tightness, so we have lined the channels we use. Do we need to do the same with the part we are adding? I believe the requirement was specified per linear meter.

is what you've bricked gas-tight?
what have you used?

There was a mason who did the job. Can't remember what it was called. But it was some very expensive mortar.

what kind of stones then?
however, the mason should have fixed the inside as well.
you still have to go there with the chimney sweep, so ask them

I don't know if I'm being unclear, but it's about the new part of the chimney. I will raise it by adding more masonry.

Of course, you don't need to glide-cast the part that will be newly walled as long as the masonry is done correctly.

The question was probably absurd, now it's just a matter of keeping our fingers crossed that the chimney sweep likes all the solutions. Thanks for all the feedback.
