Hello,

I am currently building with skalblock and had planned to cast in flex conduit for electricity (a variant approved for embedding).

According to the instructions, each stone should have 2 horizontal and 4 vertical 10mm rebar.

This makes it tricky to achieve the 50mm distance between the conduit and the rebar (I don't have a source but have "read somewhere" that the minimum distance between the concrete edge and rebar should be 50mm).

So the question is whether the amount of air in the conduit is negligible in this context or if there is a risk that I am shortening the lifespan of the rebar if I embed the conduit for electricity and it ends up perhaps 30mm from the rebar?

Skalblock of this type:

I assume that the recommendation to cover the reinforcement with 50mm of concrete is related to corrosion resistance. An electrical conduit does not in any way contribute to an increased risk of corrosion, so I would not have been concerned about having it 30mm from the reinforcement.

Thanks for the response!

I thought that there might be some air in the flex hose which then can be considered as "surrounding".

Oh well, I'll stop worrying and continue building! 🙂
