Distance noggings
just let it be, it can move a little but that's only natural, I would have checked so nothing can "squeak" when it moves. but it looks like plastic spacers so you probably have both moisture and squeak protection with that solution. Guess you thought of having an air gap behind the baseboard too.
Thanks!leby said:
No air gap behind the baseboard. For the floor ventilation to work optimally, the air gap under the raised floor should be "a sealed box," as described by Nivell. The air that is to be drawn down under the floor to ventilate the space is drawn from two vents on the other side of the room from the floor ventilation channel.

Did you attach the cross braces with angle brackets to the floor as you planned, or did you skip that? And as I understood, only the shimming plates are attached to the braces and not to the concrete floor?
I'm facing a similar project and thought I'd ask if you felt you should have done anything differently.

I attached sturdy angle irons to the beams, fastened with drive anchors to the concrete floor. I placed the angle irons so that the floor could essentially support itself just with the angle irons without the shimming blocks. Very much belt and suspenders. The shimming blocks are only attached to the beams, not the floor.N Krigarleif said:Did you attach the crossbars with angle irons to the floor as you said you planned, or did you skip that? I'm facing a similar task and wanted to hear if you felt like you should have done something differently.
Thank you for the response, did you place 2 angle irons on the opposite side of the beam or alternately on each side of the beam, and approximately what distance?
I also saw you had a thread about storing the beams, I was planning to use 45x95 as well and wonder if you had problems with them warping, I will need to have them lying around for a few days.

Oh, I don't remember, unfortunately. But I think I set them about a meter apart in all directions.N Krigarleif said:Thanks for the response, did you place 2 angle irons on opposite sides of the stud or alternate them on each side of the stud, and approximately what distance?

I stored the studs for about a week or maybe two before using them. I took tension straps and tied them together in bundles of about 5 or so each to prevent them from warping.
