Hello,
In connection with the renovation, our builder discovered mold behind our wallpaper. We bought the house 3 years ago and the house was built in the early 60s. The room is located on the upper floor against the short side of the house which has a concrete wall. The long side is a wooden facade. The mold is along the wallpaper. We have not noticed any smell or had any suspicion of moisture/mold before.
How should I proceed now? Is it something covered by insurance? Is the seller responsible for it?

  • Peeling wallpaper reveals mold on a wall in a 1960s house, likely indicating moisture issues. The wall shows significant discoloration and damage.
  • Mold behind peeling wallpaper on a wall in a room under renovation. The wall shows signs of water damage and mold growth.
Mold? It seems like it might have been damp at some point for some reason, but it could just as well have been due to poor ventilation along with a cabinet there or something. If it's dry now and there's no indication of moisture, then just continue.
