Hello!
We have received a building permit for our house, and today I attended a construction consultation at the municipality.
On the plot, there is already a building with a carport, garage, and a storage room.
The new house is placed 2.5 meters from the existing building on the site plan, with an 8.5-meter long gable without doors or windows.
Now KA and the official think that both the existing building AND the new house must be fire-rated, Ei30.
When we extended a previous house, it was sufficient to fire-rate just one building.
My head is spinning, what are the rules?

We live outside of the detailed development plan area and outside of cohesive development.
The plot area is ten thousand square meters, so we don't have to think about neighbors or boundaries.

Don't have the link here, but it is very clearly stated in BBR about what applies. It has to do with the distance. I believe it is 4 meters for it to be sufficient to fireproof one building.

Then it matters if it is a complementary building or not.

If the municipality considers the building to be an accessory building, EI30 is sufficient for your part. Otherwise, EI60 applies on your side. But EI60 should be fine since it's just a gable without windows.

Alternatively, you can move the building to have an 8-meter distance. Then you don't need to classify it for fire at all.
