Hello there!
Is there anyone who can provide tips on how to calculate the dimension of an HEA beam or equivalent for an indoor extension?
The input values are that we are building a punch veranda/dining area measuring 2.5 X 4.5 meters in the middle of the long side of our existing house, which is 12.5 X 7.3 meters on one floor.
I would like, if possible, to transfer the load from the roof trusses spanning over the main building (7.3 meters in width) to the inner corners of the punch veranda. Roof angle is 27 degrees.
Ideally, I want to use a steel beam because it occupies the least space. Perhaps Kerto if it doesn’t become too thick.
Glued-laminated timber feels ruled out as it would protrude too far down.
Please see the attached floor plan for details.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Mats
