I suspected there was something I didn't understand! The trusses are therefore positioned lengthwise. One solution is to place beams crosswise above your newly laid floor on the trusses. With a span of only about 3.2 m, reasonable dimensions can be achieved. The exact dimension depends on how much load you want to carry.
Exactly, the only downside to that is it becomes difficult to place storage unless you want to lay an additional floor on top of it. Also, you lose height (the height of the attic is about 120 cm in the middle, decreasing towards the edges). I edited the post with a question after you replied above, what do you think about those solutions?

I think the trusses should be left alone. It's possible to create very compact solutions with such a small span. I calculated on 90x180 glued-laminated timber that can handle 200 kg/sqm. If you choose steel, HEA 100 (i.e., 100 mm high) is sufficient.

Ok thanks! What center-to-center measurement do you need to place them on?

I calculated with 1200 mm. If closer, you can reduce the dimension.

Ok, thanks. For the record, a drawing of the entire truss will be provided, the height is unconfirmed but approximately correct.

  • Drawing of a roof truss with dimensions: 2.51 m on each side and 3.00 m in the middle, height approximately 1.20 m. SketchUp logo visible.
It seems like I'll leave it as it is, too much compromise on height and the floor is already laid. I'll measure with the distance laser before loading up some stuff and see how much it bends.

How are you planning to lift and load the attic, and what do you want to store with such great trouble?
I wouldn't mess around with loading these trusses!

It's mentioned at the beginning of the thread. What did you mean by hassle?

Thank you to those who have responded so far, especially Justus!
