I'm going to build a simple outdoor gym similar to the one in the picture below. I will make the posts out of 70x70 wood.
The question is what dimension I should choose for the wood that will go between the posts. I've made an arrow so you'll understand which part I mean.
The distance between the 70x70 posts will be 3.5 meters. So that's how long the beams need to be.
One should be able to hang from these posts. So they should withstand some weight at least.
Should I use 70x70 posts there as well? Or 45x95 beams? Or what do you suggest?

If it is going to be 3.5 meters between the posts, you will get deflection if you use 70×70 or 45×95. I would suggest screwing and gluing 2 pcs of 45×145 instead, but it's not particularly nice. Otherwise, you have to go up to glued laminated timber 130×130mm, but there might be deflection there as well.
