I am going to build a wall between an uninsulated part of the attic and an insulated part. The idea is that in a few years it will disappear when the rest of the attic is to be furnished. But now it is not relevant, and therefore I want to make the wall quite simple. Some heat comes from the residential part below the unheated space and there is understandably no wind at all. How much insulation should one invest in for such a wall?

Consider what you need when the rest is to be installed, so you buy materials for the temporary wall that can later be reused in the attic. For example, if you have decided to insulate the roof with 2x145, then you build the temporary wall 145.

It sounds roughly like I had planned and it was nice to get that confirmed. I will build the gable ends 170, and therefore I thought to use 170 also in the "bonus wall". Then it will probably be 170, that seems smart... Because when I later get a new gable end to insulate, I "move" my temporary wall...
