Hi,
I am planning to build a sleeping loft above the window. It is 3.1 m from wall to wall = the length of the loft, and about 160 cm wide (adjusting to center-to-center measurements, etc.) so that it fits a 120-bed. The room is 4.35 meters long, so there will be space left despite the loft.
The idea is for the loft to be without posts; I want it to only have supporting beams along the length of the loft. These will then be 3.1 m long. But what dimensions should I choose? 45*195?
On the short side of the loft, I plan to place a sill on the floor (because of the plasterboard walls), set studs against it, and lay a stud on top on which the loft's support beams will rest.
I have read that having a ventilation gap at the back of the loft is smart for air quality up there when sleeping, so I wasn't planning to attach the loft to the window wall. Of course, I might reconsider if I got it wrong.

I would really need help figuring out what will be sturdy enough, any tips?
/Maria

  • Room with a window and beige curtains, a bed, a floor lamp, and a plant on the windowsill. A blue line is drawn horizontally on the wall above.

Tvåtumfem (45*120 if you are buying planed) should suffice

Hello!

Which dimension did you choose and how did it turn out? :)
