Dimension brad nail ceiling panel

I will expose the subframe and plan to staple plastic onto it and then tape the seams. Then apply 28x70 spaced panel s400. Now to the question: I want wooden paneling as a ceiling and wonder what dimension of nails you use? I will buy a 16G gun and nail it hidden, so one nail per board, which probably has a dimension of around 120x12. Does 38mm brad nails work well? I don't want to puncture the plastic above.

That's the critical point.
If you have the same panel that I'm installing

and nail in the tongue and groove, the brad nails must be < 36 mm to avoid puncturing the plastic.

I have refrained from nailing and instead use screws with Biltema's panel clips 87-234.
Admittedly ridiculously short screws, but the vapor barrier is guaranteed not to be damaged.

I haven't bought any panel yet, but there probably won't be much difference in thickness anyway. Screwing feels time-consuming, so I prefer to nail. I can also go up to 34 thickness on the glesen if needed. However, I don't want any installation shaft since I already have low ceiling height. Does anyone have an idea of how deep the nail must be anchored for it to hold? I will have about 300-400mm of insulation above.

Isn't a common rule of thumb for nails that at least 2/3 of the nail should be embedded in what you are attaching it to, i.e., the underlying (or overlying if it's a ceiling) material?

Yes, that's what people usually say. There are 35mm brads that in my opinion should work for 12mm panels, but I would like some input from someone who has used a similar dimension. It's better to know if it works or not before I purchase the materials.

You will hammer in the groove? The panel is thinner there, but nail the brad at a 45-degree angle, then it holds better and penetration won't be a problem.

Seems to be only available for 15G guns, and I would prefer to buy myself a 16G as the nails are more cost-effective for this one. However, I'm hesitating with the purchase of a nail gun. Torn between the pneumatic Bosch GSK 64 and the gas-powered Hitachi NT65GS. I don't know if I want a gas-driven one, and if I choose the Bosch, I might as well buy the Bosch GSK 6434 and use 1.8 angled dyckert. The price is roughly the same for both Bosch guns. Do 32mm glue-coated nails work? Feels a bit too short, but maybe the glue compensates for the short length?
