I'm planning to replace some old doors in an apartment building and have received quotes for doors including installation.

However, I find it difficult to compare the doors and wonder how big the difference really is. I've received a quote from Secor, which sells a Daloc door (Daloc s43) and from Dörrbolaget, which has an imported door.

The price is basically the same at around 13-14000kr each including VAT, lock, mail slot, installation, etc.

Two differences that strike me are the sound reduction. The Daloc door is sound class 35db, while Dörrbolaget's door is 43db. Also, the locks are very different as Dörrbolaget's has 5 bolts that shoot out, while the Daloc door has a simpler lock cylinder.

The difference between 35 and 43 db feels very large considering the exponentially perceived sound level.

Both should be security class 3, but I think the Daloc lock seems weaker in appearance.

Besides that, Daloc feels like a safer choice because the company is larger.

What do you think?

Daloc's door has a sound rating on paper of 35 dB, but tested to 38 dB.

The door company's tumbler lock has five bolts. Daloc S43 has a multi-point lock that locks the door leaf at the top and bottom on the strike side. =three bolts on the strike side when locked.

I suspect there might be some hidden costs in the lock section that are difficult to detect in advance. Estimated cost for a cylinder without a key is about 1,000 SEK.

Ask the following questions before you decide:

Do you have master keys in the building?
Do you have a shared locking plan?
Can you reuse the old cylinders? Is there a security-approved solution to reinstall the cylinders?
If not, can you expand the system with new cylinders for the new doors?

Good luck!
