Most likely, the existing pipe runs straight up from the current box, so you can't just drill in a new box above.
I would have knocked a hole above and removed the existing box and installed two new boxes that are interconnected to use a double frame.
I would have chosen the Schneider multifix device box which I would have "nailed" in place and then, for example, applied gypsum plaster.

Yes, that's correct because there's a junction box above. Don't you think it's possible to just put a new box right above the existing one and then a common frame?Demmpa said:
